Betko Sunnyside CA Installation: 24 Rooms, 30,000 Bins

Gas At Site recently completed a major Controlled Atmosphere (CA) installation at Betko Sunnyside. The system integrates Isolcell ECO850 CO₂ scrubbers, PSA nitrogen generation (2 × 100 m³/h with Kaeser air), and GasWatch control running on Ignition SCADA across 24 CA rooms. In total, the site can accommodate ~30,000 bins and ~11,400 tonnes of fruit.

What We Installed

• CO₂ scrubbing: 4 × Isolcell ECO850 dynamic CO₂ adsorbers for efficient

  atmosphere management.

• Nitrogen generation: 2 × Isolcell PSA nitrogen generators (100 m³/h each), fed by Kaeser compressed air—supplying on-demand N₂ for precise O₂ control and DCA readiness.

• Centralised control: GasWatch on Ignition SCADA (Inductive Automation) for real-time, room-by-room visibility of O₂, CO₂, temperature and system states.

• DCA-ready architecture: Hardware and control philosophy prepared for HarvestWatch DCA-CF integration to operate safely at ultra-low O₂.
