Location: Welgevallen Experimental Farm, Stellenbosch
Deployed: Ongoing collaboration; 90 TermoWatch probes in use

At Hortgro’s Phytosanitary Lab in Stellenbosch, we’ve been using TermoWatch to monitor temperature across Controlled Atmosphere (CA) research rooms and throughout the lab’s insect rearing and feed production processes. It’s a cable-free approach that lets the team place sensors exactly where they matter on pallets, inside cartons, at process points and see what’s happening in real time.
Probes transmit via LoRa®-based radio communication to a Master Controller. This feeds into the GasWatch dashboard, providing a clean view with situational awareness that can be monitored remotely.
Thanks to Renate Smit for the collaboration and our lead engineer Josh Kreft for project delivery and system stewardship.
