A custom Gas At Site research system for precise atmosphere control, respiration studies, and future DCA applications

After months of development, planning, and drawing on decades of experience in the fruit storage industry, Gas At Site is proud to introduce TinyCARR.

Designed and built as a custom research installation, TinyCARR enables controlled atmosphere storage trials and fruit respiration rate studies with exceptional precision and flexibility.

The system features 12 custom gas-tight chambers, each designed to hold one fruit lug. Every chamber includes individual oxygen and carbon dioxide measurement and control, pressure monitoring, humidity measurement, and air and fruit pulp temperature sensing. The system is also DCA-ready and can support ethylene measurement and control in future research applications.

TinyCARR was developed for research environments where accurate atmosphere control and repeatable testing conditions are essential. It provides a practical platform for studying fruit response under controlled storage conditions and for supporting advanced post-harvest research.

This project reflects the kind of engineering Gas At Site values most: practical, highly customised systems built around real research needs.

The TinyCARR project was led by Josh Kreft, whose engineering input played a key role in bringing the system from concept to completion.
